Earning your Private Pilot License (PPL) is the gateway into the world of aviation. A PPL allows you to act as pilot in command of an aircraft for private, non‑commercial purposes. It’s the essential foundation for anyone planning to pursue aviation further—whether your goal is to fly privately, commercially, for an airline, or to become a flight instructor.

The PPL is the most common pilot certificate because its training requirements are more comprehensive than those for recreational or sport pilot licenses. In our view, recreational or sport pilot certificates should be considered only when a limiting factor prevents a student from pursuing a full Private Pilot License.
